Some of us climbed on boulders, a few of us slept on some boulders, but all in all it was a great day to get outside and hang with some cool people. Here's the visual recap of our trip....
Another beautiful day at Tram with the Murrieta Crew! We had a big group of 14 people who all made it out for a day full of perfect weather, and even perfect-er granite!
Thanks for coming out everyone!
We hope to see all of you at the next outing!
The temps soared to nearly 115 degrees in Palm Springs, and into the mid 80's in Tramway, but that didn't stop the Vital Murrieta Crew from getting out there and crushing some boulders! We had a big group of 10 psyched climbers, and everyone went home with a few good sends (along with a little dehydration and a tan...). If you missed this trip, be sure to keep an eye on the Vital Outdoors schedule for future excursions.
The Cbad crew got out to Tramway for some winter wonderland bouldering. Although it was a bit chilly, motivation was high and rocks were climbed. Check out the pics!
Another awesome trip to JTree! Temps were good and we had our biggest crew yet! 14 people met up in the park and wasted no time getting their hands on some rock. We spent most of our day in the Hidden Valley area tackling some classics. Check out the pics, and hopefully we will see you out there next time!
Also, Happy Birthday Jackie Trejo! Thanks for spending your big day with the Vital family!
What a day! Nothing is more inspiring than seeing a group of people all climbing at their best! We had 8 people in the group, and half of us sent our hardest projects yet! Way to crush it everyone!
At 6:30 the Carlsbad group headed out to Jtree. Apparently Sunday is the day to go anywhere because there wasn't a car on the road. We were a small group, 3 of us in total, but we were packed full of purpose!
We arrived at the Hidden Valley parking log at around 9am and the guidebook lead us straight to the JBMFP boulder. That's where we encountered the infamous Carlsbad Youth Team, lead by the biggest kid of all, Head Coach Adam Mashouri. Just around the corner appeared Joel and his daughter, Coby and his two youngsters, and trailing behind them was Scott the Beast with his wife and daughter. We went from 3 to 15 in no time, and just when we thought we had our Crew, Helga and Doug come strolling around the corner, thus completing the Carlsbad Crew.
On Sunday October 21st Vital Murrieta packed up the cars and ventured to Tramway for our first outdoor trip. We had a fun group of 9 people on the voyage, with our youth team coach Nick Franco, and Manager Luis (me!) leading the charge.
We left Vital at 7:30am and had our hands on some of that sweet mountain granite by 9:30. The rain that was falling on a lot of Southern California was a couple 1000 fee below us, so we enjoyed a very empty Tramway, and beautiful climbing conditions. After warming up at the "Warm up Boulder" we headed over the hill to the Re-Animator boulder. After lots of attempts (and a little run-in with an evil squirrel) we saw sends on the unnamed V3/4 (this thing is too good to not have a name!) and Slot Machine, V6. Nice!
After packing up and taking a little hike we made our way into the Flash Gordon area. The entry to this area is packed with climbs from V0-V3 and we were all psyched to get on them. Ticks were racked up quickly, including Flash Gordon V3, Buck Rodgers V2, and a beautiful (scary) highball, Sea of Tranquility V1R. After a couple solid hours of climbing half of our crew headed home and the remaining half hiked to the peak and ate our lunch overlooking Palm Springs and the brewing storm clouds below. Pictures don't do it justice!
After lunch we did a little exploring, put in a lot of attempts on some hard climbs, and did a fun hike back to the tram station with our headlamps lighting the path. When we arrived to the station we were lucky enough to glimpse some shooting stars as the Orionid meteor shower was still going strong. A good way to end an awesome day!
