THE RUN DOWN:
What is Passport to Peaks?
We're transforming the gym into an international climbing playground! On Thursday, July 23rd, from 7 PM to 10 PM, you'll grab your "passport" and embark on a climbing journey across continents. Each bouldering zone will become a legendary climbing destination, featuring problems inspired by the formations and style of that area.
The Global Itinerary:
Lan Ha Bay, Vietnam: Steep, muscular, and three-dimensional. Expect highly featured limestone climbing with dramatic tufa pinches and underclings. This zone will require strong core tension and creative body positioning as you navigate steep, overhanging terrain that mimics climbing straight out of the ocean.
Magic Wood, Switzerland: Power-endurance and compression. This zone is all about raw, physical bouldering on dark gneiss. Expect brutal slopers, intense body tension, and powerful compression moves where you have to squeeze the life out of the features.
Kalymnos, Greece: Flowing movement, big holds, and pump-fests. Kalymnos is world-famous for its massive, user-friendly stalactites, pockets, and endless jug hauls. While it can be steep, the movement is incredibly fluid and gymnastic. Pack your stamina for this zone—it’s all about high-volume, continuous movement. Maybe some knee bars…
Squamish, Canada: Technical friction, open-handed rolling lips, and technical prowess. Squamish granite is a masterclass in subtlety. Expect slopes, precise footwork, and moves that require immaculate balance rather than just brute strength. You’ll need to trust your feet and master the art of the "bear hug" compression.
Joshua Tree, USA: Old-school crimping, high steps, and pure friction. J-Tree is notorious for its sharp, golden monzogranite. This zone will feature technical vertical faces, microscopic crimps, and flakes. Movement here is deliberate and precise—you'll need steel fingers and excellent footwork to master these desert lines.
