details

Help us make classes the best they can be for all students by reviewing and following these policies. Please be sure to read all general policies and those related to the specific class you are taking.

yoga Etiquette

ARRIVING TO CLASS

Please make it habit to arrive to the studio on time or early in order to find a spot for your mat, place personal belongings in cubbies, and allowing a few extra minutes for yourself in seated meditation to “center in”. Coming in late, after the start of class is disruptive to other students and to the flow of class.

LEAVE NEGATIVE ENERGY AT THE DOOR

We all have busy and often hectic lives and some days more so than others. Whether it’s work, family, traffic or friends; please be sure to leave that bad energy at the door making room for new positive energy to fill you up and allowing you the opportunity to let go.

ELECTRONICS

No cell phones in class ever! If you are having an emergency and need your phone close, then be sure it is set on silent.

MAKE SPACE FOR OTHERS

Provide enough space for fellow yogis, by leaving personal belongings outside in the cubbies. Move your mat if more space is needed and make sure everyone can see themselves in the mirror.

AVOID PERFUMES

Avoid strong smelling perfumes or colognes as some people might be sensitive to them. Make sure to tell an instructor before the start of class if you are sensitive to essential oils.

CLEANLINESS

Make sure you are practicing proper hygiene before class. It is recommended that you bathe before and after practicing yoga.

SACRED SPACE

Remember that this studio is a sacred place for most people. It is like the ocean is to surfers. Respect it and take care of it. Honor the studio rules to make it an enjoyable space for all.

TAKE WHAT YOU’VE LEARNED WITH YOU

Take the positive, community minded, energy that you’ve cultivated here during class, out into the rest of your day. Practice ahimsa “non violence” in the words you speak. Spread the sense of peace and gratitude to others around you.

AERIAL Etiquette

ARRIVING TO CLASS

You must arrive 5 minutes before the start of class. This allows the crew/instructor to check you in, for you to wash your hands, and for the class to start at the right time with everyone there. If you are late, your spot will be given away if there is someone waiting to join the class.

CLOTHING

Wear tight-fitting shorts or pants - they must not have any zippers or buttons on them. Wear t-shirts, tank tops, or leotards that are tight to the body. Loose clothing can get caught in the fabric or wrap around the lyra. Consider wearing clothing that covers your waist, knees, and ankles; exposed skin is prone to painful burns from the apparatus. Socks are recommended for lyra.

JEWLERY & HEADPHONES POLICY

No hoop or otherwise dangling earrings, necklaces, and no rings are acceptable. They can snag the fabric and cause tears which is a safety concern. Rings can injure your fingers if you wear them while on a lyra. Please remove jewelry prior to class and store in a safe place. No headphones in classes, including open gym. If the instructor needs to get your attention it’s important you can hear them.

PEER-TO-PEER TEACHING

Students are prohibited from teaching each other; this includes in Aerial Open Gym. If someone needs help, get the attention of the instructor.

RESPECT

When the instructor is teaching a skill, even if you know the skill well, please give the instructor your full attention. Side conversations, sitting with your back to the instructor, and looking at your phone while they are instructing is disrespectful, and you might miss an important safety cue or distract other students!

FILMING

Ask your instructor before filming them. Some students find it helpful to film the instructor while they’re teaching the skill, so they can review later. However, some instructors do not want to be filmed, and you must respect this decision by asking first. We always encourage you to film yourself performing the skill, so you can see where you can improve and keep track of what you know! If you are going to post to social media, please turn off the audio on your video so that the instructor’s coaching notes are not being posted.

RESERVING / CANCELLING YOUR SPOT

Please only sign up for classes you know you will attend. If something comes up, and you can no longer attend, please cancel your spot through MindBody or by calling the gym. This ensures that people who are waiting for a spot to open up can take the class.

APPARATUS POLICY

The only apparatuses allowed are those provided by instructors or the gym. This includes both in Aerial Open Gym and in group classes. If you would like to use a personal apparatus you may do so in a private session with one of our instructors. Instructors will need to check equipment beforehand to make sure apparatuses are adequate and safe. No exceptions.

PHONES

Phone use is only for videoing yourself or taking notes. Texting during classes is not permitted and will result in loss of permission for phone use during class.
