Red Bean Redpoint

Friday, August 1 | 6-9pm
at VITAL Lower East Side

We invite climbers of all skill levels to compete for prizes and red bean buns at our inaugural Red Bean Redpoint competition! You will have three hours to climb five designated boulders within your category, in as few attempts as possible.

If you’re the first person to flash a problem, you get a free red bean bun. Drinks courtesy of Xing Fu Tang!

Once you’re done competing, get your posture assessed by Midtown East Chiro & drop off any shoes that need fixing with Rat Rock Repair. Stick around after for happy hour deals, red bean treats, and the award ceremony at Georgie’s Cafe.

Prizes will be awarded to the top scorer of each skill category, per gender category:

    • The comp is free for VITAL members of any location.

    • Non members must purchase a day pass to compete.

    • Yes, if you’re not a member and you’d like to spectate or climb in non-comp areas, you must purchase a day pass. 

    • Advanced sign ups are encouraged but not required. We will be emailing those who sign up the day before the comp with additional info.

    • If capacity is reached on the day of the competition, priority will be given to those who have signed up in advance. Secondary priority will be given to those on the standby list. Tertiary priority will be given to walk-ins.

    • Members can head straight for the check in table in the climbing area by the island upon arrival.

    • Non members can purchase a day pass at the front desk and then head to the check in table in the climbing area by the island.

    • The rules will be announced promptly at 5:45pm, so we encourage everyone to arrive and get settled by 5:15pm.

    • There is a very limited time to climb (and you’ll be sharing the wall with many other competitors!) and showing up on time will give you the best chance of attempting all of the boulders.

    • We will be awarding a prize bundle to the top scorer of each category:

    • Bundles include gift cards to local businesses, day passes, merch, and more.

    • The awards ceremony will be hosted at Georgie’s at 9:30pm. Head up whenever you’re done climbing to refuel & enjoy happy hour deals!

    • If you are not present to accept your award, you will forfeit your prize to the next highest scorer.
